He Was a Man of the Highest Character

By Robert L. Callery

Kevin Archibald was my son-in-law, the husband of my oldest child, Anne. I knew Kevin for about 24 years. Through all that period I was so pleased with his association with Anne. He was a man of the highest character. Although he was very close with his family, I found it remarkable how much he clearly appreciated his relationship with our family — my wife and me, my wife’s mother, and Anne’s two brothers and sister. Over the years the family grew to include spouses, three nephews and two nieces. They were all very fond of Kevin and miss him greatly. Since his death there has been another nephew added from Anne’s younger brother. It is so sad that he will be unable to know Kevin as an uncle.

Of course, the one experiencing the greatest loss and sadness is Anne. I can’t imagine how much she must miss him.

Regarding the circumstances of Kevin’s death, I am astounded that the individual at fault can seek a trial and all the pain this causes Kevin’s loved ones. I should think that one in that position would accept the punishment that the State seeks and resolve to henceforth live his life in the most exemplary manner possible. Of course, I am just a sad old man, not a young drug-head.
